Government made changes to the Electricity Compensation Program for economic agents: compensation will be provided throughout 2025

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the authorities will continue to compensate 50% of the increase in electricity tariffs, while introducing three changes that will significantly improve state support for business. In particular, the criterion of 3% has been eliminated: if until now companies whose electricity costs amounted to at least 3% of their revenues could claim benefits, now this requirement will be abolished, which will lead to an increase in the number of beneficiaries. The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the program has also been extended from 10 to 30 days. Another change is that assistance will be provided for 12 months rather than the first 3 months of the year as originally envisaged. The changes are undertaken in connection with the end of the state of emergency and are aimed at ensuring the extended implementation of the Electricity Compensation Program for economic agents. The draft also provides for a number of adjustments that will make the program more affordable and efficient. The total budget of the program is 300 million lei, the funds will be provided by the European Union. The program is focused on several sectors: manufacturing industry, agriculture, processors and producers of agro-products. According to the Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry, the program will make a significant contribution to maintaining the competitiveness of Moldova's enterprises, so that the rise in electricity prices will not affect the production costs. This will support the business environment and preserve the country's economic stability. // 19.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
