The Emergency Situations Commission approved a set of measures to master the 30-million-euro grant provided by the European Union to support both banks of the Dniester in the energy crisis

The Government's press service said that, in particular, this grant is meant to supply consumers from the left bank of the Dniester with natural gas until February 10, as well as to purchase and supply electricity to consumers from the right bank. According to the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, Energocom will buy 20 million euros worth of natural gas at the trading platforms authorized in the EU and Ukraine on market conditions. Energocom will further ensure the transportation of natural gas according to the delivery schedule agreed with Tiraspoltransgas in the volume of up to 3 million cubic meters per day. Energocom will pay for gas transportation services at tariffs approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency. After delivery, Energocom and Tiraspoltransgaz will draw up an acceptance act. Energocom will also purchase electricity for the right bank of the Dniester for 10 million euros on authorized trading platforms in the EU and Ukraine. Import and supply of natural gas and electricity, as well as transportation and distribution services of natural gas and electricity will be carried out with VAT exemption. The Emergency Situations Commission’s Regulation also stipulates that entities supplying natural gas, heat, electricity and managing the respective networks in the eastern regions of Moldova will supply exclusively to protected categories of consumers, including household consumers, medical and educational institutions, as well as power plants. All information in this respect was requested by Chisinau and received on Friday evening from Tiraspol with disaggregated data on consumers. The Cabinet recalled that the EU provides Moldova with emergency assistance to ensure the country's energy security. In this context, the Moldovan government and the EU signed a 64-million-euro non-refundable financing agreement. Of this sum, 30 million euros are earmarked for the purchase of gas and electricity for both banks of the Dniester, while 34 million euros are financial assistance to the Moldovan government. The money will come in two installments. // 03.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
