The Parliament of Moldova is open to cooperation with the IMF and will continue to support the strengthening of the financial and banking system - Igor Grosu

The speaker of the parliament announced this at a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund mission, who are on a visit to Chisinau from October 1 to 11. The main tasks of the mission are to discuss current economic processes, assess prospects and risks at the macroeconomic level, and monitor the implementation of commitments under the IMF-supported program. The speaker said that the parliament is complying with the legislative program it has undertaken, especially in the areas of justice reform and strengthening the financial and banking system. "External assessment of judges and prosecutors is an irreversible process. We must move forward, because this is the only way we can guarantee that we will build a strong state with sustainable institutions that will bring tangible results for citizens," the head of the supreme legislative body said. Igor Grosu thanked the IMF team for the financial and technical assistance, "especially in this important period for our country", and assured that the Parliament remains open and transparent for close cooperation with the IMF. The talks with the IMF experts were also attended by the Chairman of the Economy, Budget and Finance Committee Radu Marian and the Chairman of the Legal Committee on Legal Issues, Appointments and Immunities Veronica Rosca. The discussions took place in the context of the 6th review of the ECF/EFF program for Moldova, financed by the IMF through the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), and the 2nd review of the program, financed by the IMF through the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).// 08.10.2024 – InfoMarket.
