
The 23rd National Wine Day took place in Moldova
For the first time this year, the event was held under the slogan “Our Wines - Unexpectedly Great” and promoted Moldovan wine. The festivities started with an official ceremony attended by Moldovan officials and guests from abroad, including European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Janusz Wojciechowski, Lithuanian Minister of Agriculture Kęstutis Navickas, Latvian Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze, USAID Interim Mission Director in Moldova Zeinah Salahi, etc. On the first day of the “People of Wine” event, those who played an important role in the development of the wine sector were mentioned and awarded for their successes and efforts to promote Moldovan wine. On October 5 and 6, on the Great National Assembly Square, visitors could participate in the master classes of the “Wine School”, learn about the art of tasting wines, sparkling wines and spirits, about the right combination of a dish, quality signs of Moldovan wines, as well as useful information about local varieties and varieties of new Moldovan selection. Also during 2 days, visitors had the opportunity to visit the “Farmstead”, where local craftsmen demonstrated traditional techniques of pottery, wood carving, carpet weaving and wine painting. The cultural program included traditional musical performances performed by ethno-folklore ensembles from different regions and famous artists who delighted the audience.
