Moldova may receive more funds from the European Union in 2025 due to plans to increase the EU budget for the Eastern Neighborhood by 61 million euros

European Parliament's chief negotiator on the future multi-annual budget of the European Union, Siegfried Muresan, announced this while informing that he had submitted an amendment to the EU's draft budget for 2025, in which he asked for a 61-million-euro increase in the allocations for the Eastern Neighbourhood countries, including Moldova. Siegfried Muresan said that Moldova is a candidate country for EU accession and should be helped to modernize and reform within the accession process. At the same time, the MEP pointed out that Moldova faces constant security threats from Russia. “Therefore, we must ensure that Moldova and the entire eastern neighborhood receive adequate support to fight these threats, as our security in the European Union depends on how secure the countries in our neighborhood are,” Siegfried Muresan said. According to him, the EU budget for 2025 should be agreed by the European Parliament with the Council of the European Union and the European Commission with the aim of adopting it before the end of the year. // 06.09.2024 - InfoMarket
