Prime Minister Dorin Recean urged the Diaspora to invest in Moldova and consider returning home

While speaking at the Diaspora Business Forum, Prime Minister mentioned 4 directions of interaction between the government and the Diaspora, which can contribute to the development of the economy and society: democracy, business, investments and return home. He noted that the government implements an “aggressive” policy of digitalization and de-bureaucratization of processes that relate to government-business and B2B relations. “We also plan to simplify business payments between Moldova and the EU, and soon we will launch the SEPA system, which will significantly facilitate trade and reduce transaction costs. We plan to expand the range of activities of Moldova IT Park and the digitalization allows developing the IT sector,” Dorin Recean said, noting that Moldova has the biggest share of IT employees among all the EU countries. Prime Minister said that the government creates the necessary conditions to attract new investments and support those who decide to start a business in Moldova. In this respect, the simplification and digitalization of the processes, the de-bureaucratization of the business environment, the distribution of grants for various initiatives are ongoing. In addition, crowdfunding has been launched and, in investment terms, the government has launched a platform for the direct sale of state securities. “We will continue to develop the local capital market and integrate the capital market into regional exchanges, especially the Bucharest one,” he said. Prime Minister urged the Diaspora to open businesses at home, including remotely - public services, as the banking and telecommunications sectors now allow this. He also invited the Forum participants to consider returning home - perhaps not now, but soon, and called on the Diaspora to participate in the presidential elections and the constitutional referendum on October 20. Diaspora Business Forum is part of a series of events organized within the framework of the Diaspora Days in Moldova. This year's event includes panel discussions and B2B meetings in physical and online format, with the aim of creating new partnerships with businesses from the Diaspora and the country. The event is organized by the Diaspora Relations Office in partnership with UNDP Moldova and with the financial support of the United Nations (UN) Network on Migration. // 19.08.2024 – InfoMarket
