The EU will allocate a grant of 7 million 785 thousand euros for the implementation of a joint infrastructure development project by Moldova, Romania and Ukraine

This was announced by Moldovan Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu, who said that the project submitted by Moldova, jointly with its colleagues from Romania and Ukraine, to the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for co-financing has been approved in Brussels. Andrei Spinu said that, thanks to the EU's support through the CEF, Moldova will repair the access road between the border crossing points Reni-Giurgiulesti and Giurgiulesti-Galati. This section is in poor condition and is an obstacle for drivers. The road will be widened to 4 lanes and rehabilitated in accordance with European standards. “We will build a new road of about 3.15 km, which will bypass the village of Giurgiulesti. Thus, all trucks going to the port or to the border crossing points will bypass the village. The residents of Giurgiulesti will get rid of noise and pollution, and drivers will reach their destination faster. A parking lot for trucks waiting to cross the border will also be built there. The total cost of these infrastructure projects is 15 million 570 thousand euros, of which 50% (7 million 785 thousand euros) will be covered by a grant from the European Union through CEF. “I would like to express gratitude to my colleagues for their efforts and for this result, and to the EU for their trust!” Andrei Spinu wrote on his social media page. // 17.07.2024 - InfoMarket.
