The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization reported this, citing data from the Public Services Agency for 2023. As noted, as of November 2023, there were 4,900 companies with capital from the European Union operating in our country, with a total investment of 20 billion lei. The share of CIS countries accounted for 6% of the total volume of foreign investment, and the share of countries outside the EU and CIS - 12.5%. As noted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the EU is not only the main market for Moldovan exports, but also the main investor: 65% of our country’s exports go to the EU, and 81.5% of foreign investments come from the EU. The main investor countries are: Romania, Cyprus, Holland, Italy, and Germany. “European integration means huge economic opportunities that we will take advantage of in the coming years. Moldova continues to attract investments from the EU and promote exports to the EU together with companies in the country,” the department emphasizes. It was previously reported that the total volume of direct investments in Moldova at the end of 2023 amounted to $5 billion 533.86 million, up 11.9% (+ $587.16 million) compared to the situation at the end of 2022.
