Moldovan winemakers will receive grants in the amount of 8 million lei to expand their presence in international markets.
This is provided by the WESA grant program “Promotion and Export of Moldovan Wine,” an initiative funded by the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Foundation (UMAEF), which was launched on July 12. The initiative will be implemented by the National Inbound Tourism Association of Moldova in partnership with the National Bureau of Vine and Wine (NBVW) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Rural Competitiveness and Sustainability project. The WESA grant program will be rolled out over the next 12 months. It aims to increase sales of Moldovan wines on international markets, especially in non-traditional markets: Poland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, South Korea, Japan and Canada. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea, who was present at the event, noted that thanks to these support programs, wine producers will be able to access grants and assistance to access European and world markets. “It is very important that Moldovan wines are appreciated throughout the world. Wine production is only one part of the path to success. Equally important is promotion and presence in international markets, often a difficult task for many winemakers, even those who produce high-quality wines. We have 68 small wineries in Moldova, but there is potential for growth. It is vitally important to provide them with all the necessary support, including to promote exports,” Vladimir Bolea said at the opening of the program. The program is expected to support 15 wine companies in Moldova./ 12.07.2024 — InfoMarket
