The European Union will provide Moldova with another over 100 million euros in assistance.
European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Affairs Olivér Várhelyi announced this at a joint press conference in Chisinau with Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean. He noted that this amount will be allocated to our country next week, with 35 million euros representing budget support and 72.5 million euros being allocated in the form of macro-financial assistance. Olivér Várhelyi said that the EU will continue to help Moldova and our country will be able to receive additional funds to carry out a number of reforms in various areas in the process of accession to the EU. In turn, Dorin Recean emphasized that pre-accession financing from the European Union will help our country develop the economy, invest in various sectors: the economy, education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc. According to him, the parties discussed what they need to do together so that Moldova truly has a prosperous future, like other EU countries. Dorin Recean emphasized that Moldova receives significant loans and grants from the EU, which are channeled through numerous financial instruments, such as direct budget support, macro-financial assistance, EU programs and projects with international financial institutions guaranteed by the EU. One of the key priorities is the implementation of the EU Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership in Moldova. He helped translate policy priorities into real investment projects with high impact on the economy, communities and citizens of Moldova. Key sectors where the Economic and Investment Plan has mobilized investment are energy, transport and access to finance for businesses. As Dorin Recean noted, support for this plan will help Moldova achieve its ultimate goal - to become a full member of the EU. Earlier it was reported that the European Commission is allocating 72.5 million euros in financial support to Moldova as part of a new tranche of the ongoing macro-financial assistance. In particular, a loan of 50 million euros is allocated on favorable terms, as well as a grant of 22.5 million euros. This financial assistance will help Moldova cover part of its financial needs in 2024 and maintain macroeconomic stability, facilitating further reforms. // 10.07.2024 – InfoMarket
