The IMF is ready to provide additional financial assistance to Moldova in the country’s modernization process
Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kenji Okamura stated this at a meeting in Chisinau with Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean. According to the government's press service, the parties discussed the strong partnership between Moldova and the IMF. Dorin Recean noted that a successful partnership with the IMF is an important indicator for the development of relations with other partners. “We are determined on our European path, in achieving our goal of developing the economy, improving the quality of life and creating as many opportunities as possible in our country,” Prime Minister said. In turn, Kenji Okamura congratulated Moldova on the start of negotiations on accession to the EU, noting that this is followed by a complex process, and our country must be consistent in achieving this goal. “We are ready to provide you with additional assistance in the process of modernizing the country,” said the Deputy Managing Director of the IMF. In this context, the head of government noted that at the current stage the authorities have to do a lot of work not only to adjust the legislative framework, but also to ensure its implementation. The interlocutors also discussed the importance of the rule of law and ways to increase the confidence of foreign investors in the Moldovan economy in an uncertain regional context. Kenji Okamura is in our country on the occasion of participating in the IMF and the World Bank Constituency Meeting, which takes place from July 10 to 12 in Moldova. // 11.07.2024 - InfoMarket.
