At the same time, these expenses will amount to about 1.5 percent of the GDP. According to the Finance Ministry's data, in 2024, the expenses for servicing the external state debt are estimated at 2 billion 330.8 million lei (equivalent to $123.1 million). Compared to the revised figure approved for 2023, Moldova's external public debt servicing costs in 2024 will increase by 795.4 million lei (equivalent to $39.8 million), or 51.8%, as a result of loans in 2023 and new borrowings in 2024, on which one-time fees are to be paid, as well as an increase in 6-month Euribor discount rates, the rates of special drawing rights on the international market. It is expected that in 2025-2026, external public debt servicing costs will amount to approximately 2 billion 392.3 million lei and 2 billion 591.3 million lei, respectively. According to the Finance Ministry, in 2024, the expenses for servicing the internal state debt are estimated at 2 billion 796.8 million lei, including for government securities issued on the primary market - 2 billion 018.1 million lei; converted government securities - 181.2 million lei; bonds issued to fulfill the Ministry of Finance's payment obligations arising from state guarantees - 597.5 million lei. Compared to the approved (updated) indicator for 2023, the expenditures planned for 2024 will be lower by 1 billion 074.2 million lei (-27.7%), due to the reduction of the interest rate on government securities in the primary market.
