Besides, in the first half of 2024, Moldova will receive the next tranches of macro-financial assistance from the European Union. This was announced by the Co-Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Moldova-EU Association, Siegfried Muresan, following a meeting of this committee held in Chisinau. He said that Moldova is ready to start accession talks with the EU and stressed that the European Union decided to increase the financing for the EU Eastern Neighbourhood countries, including Moldova. "We managed to achieve an increase in the EU Eastern Neighborhood funds for 2024, with €50 million to be allocated to Moldova. The next tranches of macro-financial assistance available to Moldova will be disbursed in the first half of 2024. As we will create this new financial mechanism for Ukraine, the amount of €600 million initially earmarked for Ukraine, in 2024-2027 will be used for Moldova," Siegfried Muresan said. Mihai Popşoi, Deputy Parliamentary Speaker and Co-Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Moldova-EU Association, reiterated the authorities' willingness to fulfill the 9 recommendations contained in the European Commission's opinion.
