Moldova extended the state of emergency for another 30 days, starting from December 1.

The corresponding decision was adopted by the Parliament on Friday on the initiative of the Government, which noted that the extension of the state of emergency regime is conditioned by the unfavorable dynamics of regional security in recent months, multiple uncertainties regarding the further development of the war, which maintains high security risks that may affect Moldova as well. In particular, in the cold season there is a risk of intensified attacks by the Russian armed forces on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which may negatively affect the supply of electricity to our country. At the same time, direct risks of energy instability caused by the reduction of natural gas supplies by Russia cannot be ruled out. The government also states that "the interference of the Russian external factor in destabilizing trends in Moldova continues", and in the context of intensified efforts for Moldova's European integration and support for the EU's security and common defense policy, "the preconditions for asymmetric and disproportionate response to the main vulnerable strategic segments in our country through information and subversive operations of the Russian special services remain". During the state of emergency, the Moldovan Emergency Situations Commission issues binding and enforceable regulations for central and local government leaders, economic agents, state institutions, as well as for citizens and other persons in Moldova. The extension of the state of emergency regime will allow the Moldovan authorities to respond to all challenges. It should be recalled that the state of emergency throughout Moldova was declared by the Parliament on February 24, 2022, at the proposal of the Moldovan government, in order to ensure prompt decision-making and effective management of risks and threats that may arise. Since then, the state of emergency regime has been regularly extended. // 24.11.2023 - InfoMarket.
