
The 8th meeting of the dialogue between Moldova and the European Union on financial and economic issues (Cluster 1), based on the provisions of the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, took place in Chisinau.
The event, titled “Economic Dialogue, Public Financial Management, Statistics, Financial Sector Reform, Control and Anti-Fraud Regulations,” was organized by the Ministry of Finance. The dialogue focused on a number of main areas: the macroeconomic situation in Moldova and the European Union, public financial management reform, the progress of reforms in the financial sector, the fight against fraud and control. Officials discussed external assistance to Moldova, with a focus on macro-financial assistance from the EU and the IMF financial assistance program. In this context, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Ion Gumene expressed gratitude for the assistance of European partners in the framework of numerous projects implemented at the national level, noting that in order to advance the European integration process, Moldova continues to rely on EU support in carrying out reforms in the areas under discussion. At the same time, the event participants spoke about the evolution during the implementation of the Public Finance Management Development Strategy, discussed the current situation with public investments, budget execution, progress achieved in the financial market, the evolution in bringing national statistics into line with European legislation in the field of statistics, government priorities in terms of attracting foreign direct investment, etc. In conclusion, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance Ana Luca thanked all participants for their valuable contribution to the dialogue, noting that Moldova remains fully committed to implementing reforms aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth and improving the well-being of citizens. The event was attended by representatives of a number of national public authorities, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the State Tax Service, the National Bank of Moldova, the Chamber of Accounts, the National Commission for the Financial Market, the National Anti-Corruption Center, the National Bureau of Statistics, as well as European officials, representatives of the European Commission Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs, European Anti-Fraud Office, EU Statistics Office, FISMA, EUROSTAT, EU Delegation to Moldova, EU Senior Advisors to Moldova, etc. The activities of the subcommittee of the association Cluster 1 are carried out annually within the framework of operational meetings at the expert level on the principle of rotation in Brussels and, accordingly, in Chisinau.// 23.11.2023 — InfoMarket
