Romania transferred to Moldova the first tranche in the amount of 10 million euros from a total grant of 100 million euros to finance priority projects

This was stated by Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu during a meeting in Bucharest with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. He noted that the funds from this first tranche were used to purchase minibuses to transport schoolchildren, as well as to infrastructure and local development projects (water supply, sewerage, etc.). The money was allocated to finance priority projects on the basis of the Agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on the implementation of a program of gratuitous technical and financial assistance in the amount of 100 million euros. The Romanian prime minister highly appreciated the participation of Moldovan President Maia Sandu in the 8th Three Seas Initiative summit in Bucharest. He noted that Romania strongly supports Moldova's request to join this format of cooperation, which aims, among other things, to identify concrete ways to involve Moldova and Ukraine in projects aimed at increasing the degree of connectivity in the field of energy, transport and digital technologies in the region. The parties highly appreciated the state of bilateral relations and called the level of cooperation excellent. The President of Moldova and the Prime Minister of Romania expressed their readiness to continue the dialogue along the same ascending line, as well as to work together to obtain concrete results for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries. Maia Sandu thanked Romania for the support provided to Moldova on a bilateral basis and in the current security context caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation, especially in the energy sector, given the approaching cold season. The Romanian Prime Minister confirmed the political and technical support for Moldova's integration into the European Union, noting that the priority at the moment is to obtain a decision within the European Council in December this year on the start of negotiations on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU.// 06.09.2023 — InfoMarket
