The authorities of Moldova and Greece will make efforts to open a direct Chisinau-Athens flight in early 2024.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis agreed on this at a meeting in Athens. The parties discussed economic cooperation between the countries, as well as issues related to attracting Greek investments to Moldova, including in the context of the process of urban reconstruction in southern Ukraine. Maia Sandu stated that Moldova is interested in even closer cooperation with Greece in a number of areas, including in the energy sector. This spring, Energocom signed a cooperation agreement with the Greek operator DEPA, and then a contract for the purchase of natural gas. The President stressed that the diversification of sources of natural gas supplies is a key element in ensuring Moldova's energy security. She also said that Moldova is ready to send 56 firefighters to extinguish fires in Greece.
