Budget revenues from the payment of income tax by individuals in 2022 amounted to 7.2 billion lei, which is 18.4% more than a year earlier (6.08 billion lei).
According to the State Tax Service, last year a total of 1.53 million taxpayers-individuals declared income of 98.2 billion lei - the number of taxpayers-individuals increased by 10 thousand (+0.7%) and the amount of income declared by them increased by 17.9% compared to 2021. The most significant part of taxable income of individuals-citizens of the country (about 74%) last year came from salaries, the second place was taken by income in the form of dividends (12.9%), the third - income from property rental, except agriculture (3.1%). In particular, "salary" income of citizens in 2022 increased by 15% and amounted to 72.8 billion lei, the amount of dividends received - rose by 34.6% to 12.7 billion lei and income from real estate rent or lease increased by 16.3% to 3.04 billion lei. Last year, the income of citizens from interest on deposits grew as well - to 1.55 billion lei (+67.7%), royalties - to 525.75 million lei (+27.6%), gambling winnings - to 231.7 million lei (+10%) and foreign income - to 112.7 million lei (+36.7%). At the same time, incomes from capital growth decreased by 108% (to 1.8 billion lei) and from agricultural products - by 0.23% to 2.3 billion lei. Last year, individuals not engaged in entrepreneurial activities, filed 175.8 thousand declarations of income tax (+1% compared to 2021).
