
Beneficiaries from Moldova will be able to access EU grants totaling 65 million euros for joint projects of the countries of the Black Sea region.
This was reported by the press service of the parliament, noting that the commission for foreign policy and European integration at a meeting on Wednesday approved the start of negotiations and the subsequent signing of the Financing Agreement between Moldova, the European Commission and the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration of Romania for the Interreg VI-B NEXT Program for the Black Sea basin for 2021-2027. The tripartite agreement is intended to establish a national legal framework for the participation and capitalization by Moldovan beneficiaries of financial resources provided as a grant by the European Commission within the program cycle 2021-2027. The program is aimed at improving the living standards of the citizens of the Black Sea region through sustainable economic growth and joint environmental protection. On its basis, there will be financed the following priorities: "green" communities, competitiveness, innovation. The first call for proposals was launched on March 30, 2023 and will end on July 4, 2023. The conclusion of the agreement will give program beneficiaries from 7 participating countries the opportunity to access financial resources in the form of a grant of 65 million euros for the implementation of joint projects. The total budget of the Interreg VI-B NEXT program for the Black Sea basin for 2021-2027 is about 72.2 million euros. As InfoMarket previously reported, the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin 2027 Program was officially launched in Istanbul on February 8, 2023 and will become a platform where ties between participating countries are strengthened and where regional actors can come together and contribute to sustainable resource management for the benefit of the citizens of Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. The total budget of the program is 72.28 million euros, of which EU funds amount to 65.05 million euros, and national co-financing of the participating states amounts to 7.23 million euros.
