
The WB will provide Moldova with $55 million to implement the project "Investments in the management, development and sustainability of the agricultural sector" (AGGRI).
The government approved the start of negotiations with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to sign a relevant loan agreement at a meeting on April 26. The project aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of state institutions involved in service provision in the agricultural sector and ensure the quality and safety of food products (Ministry of Agriculture, AIPA, ANSA, Center of Advice in Agricultural Sector, etc.), rehabilitation of centralized irrigation systems and livestock sector rehabilitation (creation of new dairy farms and upgrading existing ones, support in quality assurance in accordance with EU requirements, certification of dairy meat products and promotion of the livestock breeding sector). In particular, $25 million will be allocated to strengthen irrigation sector, $21 million to stimulate livestock and horticulture development; $6.5 million to consolidate institutional capacities and $2.5 million for project management. The implementation of this project is expected to improve the quality of life in rural areas, encourage the growth of beneficiaries' incomes, ensure the modernization of agricultural enterprises, create new jobs, increase tax revenues to the state budget, and create conditions for attracting new investments in agriculture and related sectors. // 26.04.2023 - InfoMarket.
