Moldova has already implemented 100 projects under the "European Village" National Program and will launch projects under the new "European Village Express" Program.

President of Moldova Maia Sandu stated this at a briefing, noting that almost every second settlement in Moldova is financed by the government under the "European Village" National Program. "Out of almost 500 projects, 100 have been implemented and almost 100 thousand people benefit daily from the European Village Program. More than 20,000 people have gained access to potable water; almost 34,000 enjoy new street lighting. Fourteen kindergartens have been repaired or equipped; nine gymnasiums, three lyceums and 18 cultural centers have been modernized and overhauled. We have managed to do this in only one year, and we will continue to develop Moldova in the coming years, village by village," the head of state said. At the same time, President said that she has asked the Government to announce a tender for a new program - "European Village Express", which will allow localities to implement fast projects, in maximum 6 months, which are cheaper and with a simplified procedure of project registration for the tender. "By creating the "European Village" National Program and launching the "European Village Express" Program, we will build Europe here in Moldova, so that families can live together at home," Maia Sandu concluded. She said the authorities will work in a disciplined and coordinated way to modernize infrastructure and improve the quality of life in Moldovan communities. "This means bringing home the EU - good living conditions for every citizen, no matter where he/she lives - in a big city or a village in the north or south of Moldova. The natural things that people have been deprived of for decades - drinking water in houses, sewage, European roads, kindergartens and modern hospitals - mean a European Moldova," she said. "I promised that I would be President for everyone, for the people, regardless of the party of the elected mayor, and I did. The 100 projects implemented in just 1 year demonstrate our commitment to improving the conditions in which residents live from one end of Moldova to the other. Village by village, Europe will reach our homes," Maia Sandu emphasized. // 25.04.2023 - InfoMarket.
