14 innovative business ideas in the digital and technology sectors will receive grants of up to 500 thousand lei.

These projects were the winners of the first grant competition announced by the Enterprise Development Organization under the Digital Innovation and Technology Startup Support Program. During the project competition, which took place in November-December 2022, were received 70 applications, of which 34 projects were proposed to the Program Evaluation Committee (jury). At this stage, the best 14 business ideas were selected to receive grant funding. The total amount of grants allocated to the first beneficiaries is about 5.65 million lei - each will receive up to 500 thousand lei, while the participants' own contribution will be 20% of the cost of the investment project. The beneficiaries selected for funding will implement projects in the field of telemedicine, tourism, manufacturing and waste processing services. Among the enterprises selected for financing is the company Terafix from Straseni, which will receive about 500 thousand lei to introduce innovative elements in the field of waste recycling. Business manager Cristina Grosu said that together with the team she will create a technology for the production of organic fertilizers and insecticides from organic residues of animal and plant origin using Hermetia Illucens larvae. Another new business is Teleportravel from Chisinau, which will receive more than 300 thousand lei for the development of a virtual trading platform in the field of tourism. “Innovation is the engine of economic and sustainable development, and through this program, the state encourages the introduction of digital innovations, technologies and sustainable production in Moldova. We are pleased that today we can support the first 14 business ideas that offer the development and promotion on the market for commercial purposes of products and services with innovative elements or the launch of new products,” said Dumitru Pintea, head of the ODA. At the same time, John Riordan, USAID Deputy Head of Mission to Moldova, emphasized that innovation and technology start-up support programs are more important than ever for businesses in Moldova - they give entrepreneurs the opportunity to grow their business and prevent risks in order to become more sustainable in their innovative and sustainable projects. The Digital Innovation and Tech Startup Support Program was launched in October 2022 to promote technological innovation, accelerate the adoption of the digital circular economy and technology economy, and increase Moldova’s economic competitiveness in the field of digital innovation, green and sustainable production technologies. It is implemented on budgetary funds and is supported by the Future Technologies project funded by USAID and the Government of Sweden.// //27.02.2023 — InfoMarket.
