The weighted average price of 1 MWh of electricity purchased by Energocom on the exchange in Romania in one month was 231 euros.

Since Energocom started buying electricity from OPCOM (the state-owned company created to liberalize the Romanian electricity market), the Moldovan state-owned company has purchased electricity worth 51.6 million euros in a month, the state-owned company said in a statement. These daily purchases covered 2/3 of Moldova's needs and were also the most expensive purchases in this area. “Until recently, Moldova had access to cheap energy sources, but the war in Ukraine and the limitation of the volumes of gas supplied to Moldova forced us to identify other sources, and the nearest market was in Romania,” said Victor Binzari, acting director of Energocom. According to him, at OPCOM all prices are transparent. All electricity producers sell at the same price to OPCOM, and later OPCOM sells this energy to buyers. At the same time, prices for OPCOM have been growing in recent days, as in all European countries. First of all, these are seasonal factors - closer to winter, demand increases. Also, prices in the region were affected by the war in Ukraine and damage to the energy system of a neighboring country. To gain access to the electricity market in Romania, Energocom had to open a branch, obtain a trading license from NAER România, have accounts and bank guarantees in one of the Romanian banks, register on the balancing market, sign contracts with transporters, register on the cross-border reservation platform capacity and register on the stock exchange. A license obtained in one EU country facilitates registration in other markets of the Member States. Energocom is currently in the process of obtaining a license in Bulgaria, with an interest in other markets in the region. In addition, the company seeks to find other partners for the conclusion of bilateral contracts. Previously, Moldavskaya GRES covered 70% of the needs of right-bank Moldova in electricity, supplying it with electricity at a price of $62.5 per MW/h. // 28.11.2022 — InfoMarket
