The draft law designed to increase investment and economic activity in southern Moldova has been approved in the first reading.
Draft amendments to the Law on "Valkanes" Free Economic Zone (FEZ) provide for elimination of a number of inconsistencies in cadastral numbers of land plots included in this FEZ, as well as establish a clear delimitation of borders and authorities of "Valkanes" FEZ and Comrat Industrial Park. Because of these discrepancies this FEZ may lose serious investments. The project envisages replacing one land plot belonging to "Valkanes" FEZ with three others, which are located within the same boundaries on the territory of Comrat municipality. Comrat: 2 hectares, 22,44 hectares and 10,96 hectares, while the Comrat Industrial Park will receive 14,9 hectares. The author of the draft law notes that foreign investors show an increased interest in developing business in the "Valkanes" Free Economic Zone, creating high-paying jobs. For example Luxali Development, which has already become a FEZ resident, plans to build a 60,000-square-meter manufacturing facility there. The volume of investments is estimated at 40 million lei. These investments will contribute to social-economic development of the region, skills of workers will be improved, industrial sector workers will be trained, deductions to state and local budgets will increase, exports will grow, etc. The bill is to be approved in the second reading. //30.09.2022 - InfoMarket.
