Energocom is authorized to create and maintain natural gas reserves in case of emergencies.
The government approved a resolution to this effect at Thursday's meeting. In particular, in order to create and maintain natural gas reserves, Energocom will sign the necessary contracts with gas storage operators, including those in neighboring Energy Community and EU countries, as well as with system operators whose networks will be used to transport gas to storage facilities. Energocom will open a separate bank account within 1 month of the effective date of this regulation to fulfill its obligation to create and maintain gas reserves. At the same time, suppliers on the retail natural gas market will pay Energocom fees for the creation and maintenance of reserves, the amount of which will be approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE). The minimum volume of natural gas to be stored will be 22.8 million cubic meters. This natural gas from gas storages can be used fully or partially only on the basis of a decision of the Emergency Situations Commission of Moldova, adopted in case of an emergency situation, including the introduction of the state of emergency. Any other operations with gas reserves can be performed only according to ANRE decisions. Energocom has purchased 39.5 million cubic meters of natural gas, in line with the provisions of the Emergency Situations Commission, in order to ensure the energy security of the country. //29.09.2022 - InfoMarket.
