The government will create a mechanism for checking prices for socially important goods in the regions, for which the trade margin has been limited.
This was stated by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, speaking at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. She noted that she is alarmed by the rise in prices, which corrodes the purchasing power of the population. The head of government stressed that the situation looks especially strange when the company, the largest producer of sunflower oil, holds a press conference and says that it will not raise prices, but feedback is received from local citizens that the products are sold at prices different from declared by the manufacturer. “We need to look where the chain breaks, what is the problem,” the prime minister said. She stressed that this situation will be discussed in the government within the framework of a special committee, which will also include representatives of the Consumer Protection Agency. Natalia Gavrilita believes that it is necessary to create a mechanism that will allow to track and know what is happening with prices in practice. She proposed to involve representatives of the territorial offices of the State Chancellery in checking prices on the spot. “We must create a mechanism to see what is happening in reality, what are the prices for socially important products in stores and on the market, are there deviations from our policies to limit prices for socially important products. It is important to know the real situation and think about what decisions need to be made so that in each locality the policies approved by the government are implemented, so that they are put into practice. We have made many decisions, entrepreneurs say they will not raise prices, and consumers say that in reality prices are rising. We need to look where the mechanism does not function,” Natalia Gavrilita emphasized. // 14.09.2022 — InfoMarket
