New rules for certification of wines in PET bottles have been introduced in Moldova.

In particular, the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) announced a series of actions taken against producers who fill wine products in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. According to ANSA, the certification body of the Central Laboratory for Testing Alcoholic / Soft Drinks and Canned Products after checking the quality of wine products bottled in PET bottles (organoleptic characteristics, quality, authenticity, innocuousness), seized by inspectors ANSA within random checks in retail stores, have established a number of measures. In particular, starting from September 5, certificates of conformity issued for serially certified wine products, bottled in PET bottles, are suspended. After September 5, wine products, bottled in PET, will be certified only in batches, in accordance with the requirements of the new certification scheme. Suspension of batch certification of wine products bottled in PET will be valid only for 6 months and under the condition that, producers of wine products bottled in PET will not have any inconsistencies in their testing. In this case, ANSA will control the quality and placement on the market of wine products bottled in PET, based on the certificates of conformity issued for each batch.
