Moldova does not have a clear answer from Gazprom on confirming gas volumes for the coming months, and the authorities must be ready to take urgent measures to supply the country with gas - Andrei Spinu.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development stated this while speaking at a government meeting and explaining the need to extend the state of emergency throughout the country for another 60 days. He noted that "Gazprom" becomes not a very reliable supplier, reducing the volume of gas supplies to Europe. “Many uncertainties remain, new restrictions on gas supplies to Europe are being introduced. Moldova has a contract, but, unfortunately, there is no clear answer on how events will develop and whether the required volumes of gas will be confirmed for the subsequent period. And in this situation, it is necessary to guarantee that in the next two months the authorities will be able to make decisions to provide the country with gas, regardless of the decision of Gazprom on the contract with Moldovagaz,” Andrei Spinu said. He also recalled that, in addition, the right bank of the Dniester acquires 70% of the required electricity from the Moldavskaya GRES, which runs on gas under a contract with Gazprom, and the termination of this contract will lead to the impossibility of supplying electricity to the right bank of the Dniester, and then the necessary electricity will be purchased in full in Ukraine or in other countries. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that in the current situation it is difficult to conclude long-term contracts that could ensure stability and predictability. According to him, the decisions taken earlier by the Commission for Emergency Situations to solve problems in the field of energy must be preserved in order to provide the country with energy resources. Andrei Spinu also pointed out that preparations for the heating season are underway, the government is working on an appropriate action plan, and measures will soon be announced that will require decisive action from the Commission for Emergency Situations to take care of citizens.// 27.07.2022 — InfoMarket
