The Emergency Situations Commission adopted a number of decisions on the problems of gas supply and payment by the Moldovagaz company for current gas supplies.
According to the press service of the government, during the meeting, the commission considered the situation on the natural gas market and the risks for Moldovan consumers. The presented reports confirmed the existence of problems with the accumulation of the necessary funds for the full payment by the company "Moldovagaz" to the supplier. This is due to negative financial deviations due to the January increase in gas prices while maintaining the previously approved tariffs for end users. The Moldovagaz company has informed the Emergency Situations Commission that there is a risk of interruption of natural gas supplies if payments are not made in accordance with the contractual terms. Following the meeting, the Commission for Emergency Situations adopted a number of decisions. In particular, government agencies were instructed to take measures to rationalize gas and electricity consumption based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development. Within the framework of the Supervisory Board, Moldovagaz will discuss the possibility of extending the deadline for paying bills until the end of January 2022. The company will also continue negotiations with commercial banks on raising a commercial loan and will officially inform the members of the Emergency Situations Commission about the banks' response. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance will explore the legal possibilities of providing a short-term grace period for Moldovagaz to pay VAT, thereby providing the company with the necessary liquidity for the current payment for gas. Herewith, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, together with the Ministry of Finance, will analyze the situation with the increase in the natural gas tariff and the impact on consumers, as well as the funds allocated for compensation, and will present proposals for improving the compensation system. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development will continue to monitor the situation and will periodically inform the commission. As noted in the Cabinet of Ministers, the Emergency Situations Commission will convene for repeated meetings to assess the situation on the natural gas market and, if necessary, make new decisions in order to avoid major risks for consumers. // 12.01.2022 — InfoMarket
