The IMF forecasts 4.5% GDP growth in Moldova in 2022, and 5.5% growth in 2023.

These figures are contained in the materials of the International Monetary Fund, published following the completion of consultations with Moldova under Article IV of the IMF agreement and the approval of a new financing program worth $558.3 million (SDR 400 million). Fund experts note that, according to forecasts, in 2021, real GDP growth in Moldova will reach 7.5% due to strong domestic demand, supported by steady growth in lending and wages, as well as a significant inflow of remittances from abroad. It is planned that in nominal terms, Moldova's GDP by the end of 2021 will reach 232.5 billion lei or $13 billion. It is expected that high energy costs, in particular the increase in gas tariffs, and implied uncertainty, could negatively affect aggregate demand in the first half of this year and, as a result, the growth of the Moldovan economy in 2022 will be 4.5%, and in nominal terms it will reach 255.6 billion lei, or $13.6 billion. The IMF analysts forecast that in 2023 Moldova's GDP will grow by 5.5%, in 2024 - 5.8%, in 2025 – 5.4%, and in 2026 - 5%. It is expected that in nominal terms, in these years, it will amount to 284.5 billion lei, 317.5 billion lei, 353 billion lei and 391 billion lei, or $14.4 billion, $15.3 billion, $16.3 billion and $17.3 billion, respectively. // 06.01.2022 - InfoMarket.
