The National Bank of Moldova has set priorities for banking supervision for 2022.

As noted in the message of the regulator, they were the result of a thorough analysis of the activities of licensed banks in the country, as well as the development of a pandemic. Priorities relate to credit risk, internal governance, risk management and internal capital adequacy assessment, internal liquidity assessment process, information and communication technology (ICT) risk, anti-money laundering and terrorist financing, and risks associated using payment systems. “The priorities include a wide range of actions that will ensure the continuity of reforms launched in recent years and will inevitably lead to further strengthening of the banking system. It is extremely important that we continue these processes for the benefit of the development of our country and our citizens, ”said the President of the NBM, Octavian Armasu. He noted that by setting these six priorities, the National Bank seeks to bring the banking sector of Moldova in line with European and international requirements and practices, which will lead to permanent consolidation of the banking system. In order to protect the interests of depositors, as well as to ensure the stability and viability of the banking sector, the National Bank exercises prudential supervision over banks in Moldova, observing legal requirements to prevent and limit risks inherent in the banking sector. The document with the priorities of the NBM banking supervision for 2022 is published on the NBM website and is available at the link: https://www.bnm.md/ro/content/prioritatile-supravegherea-bancara-ale-bancii-nationale-moldovei-pentru-anul -2022//03.01.2022 – InfoMarket.
