Based on the results of negotiations with Gazprom, Moldova received the best possible price for gas under current conditions, which in November will amount to about $ 450 per 1,000 cubic meters, and in December, according to the forecast, it will drop below $ 400.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andrei Spinu, noting that, for example, the market price for gas in Europe is currently at the level of $ 1,089, and the projected price for December is $ 798. Thus, in the current difficult conditions, our country will have a gas price twice lower than the market price, and further, it is expected to decrease, subject to a further drop in gas prices on international exchanges. Andrei Spinu explained that the negotiations themselves were difficult, and Chisinau's position on them was not very favorable, given the dynamics of prices and the gas shortage in Europe. Nevertheless, the goal of the Moldovan authorities was to achieve the best gas price in the current conditions, to prevent a significant increase in tariffs for the population and economic consumers, as well as to discuss favorable contract terms only from an economic point of view, not allowing political conditions, and as a result they succeeded to complete all these tasks. Considering that JSC Moldovagaz is a joint venture and there is a historical experience of relations for more than 20 years, the parties agreed to extend the contract with Gazprom on the terms of gas supplies to Moldova for a period of 5 years on mutually acceptable terms, based on a similar pricing formula with reference to petroleum products basket and to the indices of the liquid European trading floor. Andrei Spinu explained that the Moldovan side managed to remove an acute problem, which would be a great burden for consumers and present great difficulties in the context of current market prices. “Now we have time and more room for maneuvers to engage in more efficient development of the energy sector, ensure the country's energy security, efficient energy consumption and diversification of energy supply sources. Moldova has learned a lesson that confirms the truth that sleds need to be prepared in summer. Unfortunately, over the past 30 years, the country has not been able to achieve more in this area, ”concluded Andrei Spinu.// 01.11.2021 — InfoMarket
