
Support for access to EU programs, expansion of the PARE 1 + 1 program, development of business consulting are the priorities of the project to support SMEs in rural areas for the next six months - the Ministry of Economy.
According to the ministry, plans for the next six months and the results of activities for March-August 2021 were discussed at a meeting of the members of the steering committee of the EU technical assistance project "Policy for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas." Among the activities completed, was mentioned the development of the final assessment report on the SME Development Strategy for 2012-2020; development of new tools to support SMEs (including the “Second Chance for SMEs for Companies in Crisis” Program) and the SME Digitization Program. Also at the final stage is the development of a new SME Modernization Program and updated versions of the SME Greening and SME Growth and Internationalization Program implemented by ODIMM. The head of the Ministry of Economy, Sergiu Gaibu, noted that the recommendations of the final assessment report on the SME development strategy will be used in the development of a new National Medium-Term Development Program dedicated to the SME sector. The program will align priorities with the current pandemic situation in order to reduce its impact and establish all processes for the early recovery of enterprises. The meeting participants noted among the important elements of the project the provision of modern equipment for SMEs, innovative tools and support during a pandemic, greening the economy and digital transformation. During the meeting, events were also planned for the next six months. Thus, from September 2021 to February 2022, the following goals have been set: support for SMEs' access to EU programs; identification and development of priority sectors of economic growth in rural areas; revision and expansion of the current PARE 1 + 1 Program and a set of measures aimed at developing business consulting services for rural SMEs. As a reminder, the technical assistance project "Policy of Support for Small and Medium Enterprises in Rural Areas" was launched in September 2020 with the support of the EU. It will last until January 2023. In Moldova, 98% of all enterprises work in the SME sector, among them 85% are micro-enterprises with up to 10 employees.// 05.10.2021 — InfoMarket
