
Moldova plans to conclude a new Memorandum with the IMF by the end of 2021, as well as gain access to EU macro-financial assistance.
This was stated by Minister of Finance Dumitru Budianschi during public consultations on the draft Government Action Plan for 2021-2022 in the field of public finance management. During the meeting, he presented a strategic vision, development goals related to the field of public finance, as well as a set of priorities proposed for implementation in the near future and those that should be implemented by the end of 2022. The head of the Ministry of Finance noted that in 2021 one of the main tasks is to restore external financing, which is crucial for ensuring financial stability. “To achieve this goal, we have initiated and will continue activities related to access to macro-financial assistance from the European Union, as well as the resumption of dialogue with the International Monetary Fund and the conclusion of a Memorandum with the Fund until the end of 2021,” Dumitru Budianschi said. According to him, short-term goals cover the most important areas arising from the competence of the Ministry of Finance: budgetary policies and the budgetary process, public investment, public procurement, tax and customs sphere, government debt management, coordination of foreign aid, internal state financial control, etc. The head of the financial department noted that prudent, transparent and effective management of public finances remains a priority for the government and the Ministry of Finance itself. “This will be our guideline for all activities related to public finance,” noted Dumitru Budianschi. The participants in the consultations expressed their views on the proposals put forward. The registered proposals will be included later in the summary, which will be published on the website of the Ministry of Finance. The public consultations were attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Finance and representatives of the associative sector, science, the donor community, government agencies and institutions, as well as other stakeholders. The public consultations on public finance are part of a series of events organized in accordance with the Prime Minister's decree, which foresees a public consultation from September 3-10 on the draft government action plan for 2021-2022.
