The World Bank is ready to introduce new projects in Moldova, including infrastructure ones.

This was stated by President Maia Sandu after a meeting with the new head of the World Bank office in Moldova, Inguna Dobraja. During the discussions, the parties touched upon the most important issues of cooperation between Moldova and the World Bank. Maia Sandu stressed that the new government of Moldova has a program aimed at a qualitative transformation of the country, and development partners are invited to support the authorities in this regard. She noted that in the near future, a new framework for the partnership of the parties will be developed. Sandu highlighted agriculture, energy, environment, as well as social safety nets, health care and digitalization as areas of mutual interest in which the authorities rely on the support of the World Bank. The officials agreed that in order to increase the efficiency of cooperation between Moldova and the WB, it is necessary to enhance possibilities for the implementation of current and new projects, in order to ensure that all works are completed on time. In addition, the parties agreed to intensify activities aimed at infrastructure projects that are most expected by citizens. Let us recall that, the World Bank's regional director for Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine Arup Banerji in his message to the Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilita said that the World Bank is ready for fruitful cooperation with the new government and the launch of a new program for the country. The World Bank Group is committed to working with the new government to support sustainable economic and social recovery from the pandemic, address governance challenges, and build a prosperous and inclusive society for Moldova's long-term sustainable development, he said. Arup Banerji also expressed hope for an early meeting of the WB team with the Prime Minister and members of the new Moldovan government in order to facilitate the implementation of the current program and launch a new 5-year partnership program for the country. // 21.08.2021 - InfoMarket.
