Moldovan Ministry of Economy discussed the priorities of digital transformation of the public sector and the national economy.

These issues were discussed at a meeting between the leadership of the Ministry of Economy and representatives of the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC). Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu spoke about the main priorities of the new institutional structure of the department in the field of information technology and communications: promotion of amendments to a number of regulations; introduction of the 1st Package for the digitization of the economy; correction of a number of regulations governing the activities of Moldova IT Park. He noted the importance of developing educational programs with the inclusion of a component of digitization of specialized specialties in Moldova’s universities. Deputy Minister Iurie Turcanu noted that the government has raised digitalization to the level of a national priority, noting that there are conceptual things in the government's digitization work program that, in some cases, radically change the way the state, citizens and the business environment interact. In this context, Turcanu stressed the importance of participation and support of these changes by the business environment, including through partnerships, to create digital solutions and increase their consumer ability. Representatives of ATIC, in turn, appreciated such an attentive attitude of the new government to the ICT sector. During the meeting, they pointed out a number of problems in the IT sector that require the attention of the authorities. Among them, changes in the regulations on the activities of Moldova IT Park to ensure mechanisms of digital interaction between the park administration and residents; the need to expand knowledge and experience in innovative areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, etc.; increasing the state's ability to absorb services provided by IT companies, etc. // 19.08.2021- InfoMarket.
