The total cost of EU investments in the modernization of Moldova's road infrastructure is estimated at up to 780 million euros.

As InfoMarket was informed in the European Commission, this is envisaged by the EU's flagship initiatives for Moldova within the framework of a new investment and economic plan for EU cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries for the coming years. The EU notes that sustainable infrastructure is the key to a better recovery, and the EU will continue to invest in priority projects that improve Moldova's road and rail links with the EU and the rest of the Eastern Partnership region. A combination of technical assistance and investment in new and existing infrastructure will improve roads and railways. From 2021, the EU will fund advisory services and technical assistance to help EaP countries plan, prepare and implement infrastructure projects related to TEN-T, a trans-European transport network that is being created to connect Europe from west to east and from north to south by the network of roads, railways, airports and water infrastructures in the European Union. As noted, the Road IV program will cover the main road infrastructure of Moldova, facilitating trade with the EU and strengthening the government's capacity to maintain roads and protect property through effective axle load control. The total investment cost will be up to 780 million euros. The EU will use various instruments to support the implementation of this task: grants, loans, guarantees, blending. // 06.07.2021 - InfoMarket
