
Over the past 7 years, the share of Moldova's exports to the EU has grown by 14 percentage points - from 53% of the country's total exports in 2014 to 67% in 2020.
These data were presented by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure in the context of the 7th anniversary of the signing of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. It is noted that the number of exporting companies to the EU has increased to more than 70% of the total number of Moldova’s exporting companies. The top 5 largest importing countries of Moldovan products include Romania, Germany, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic. According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, within the framework of the Association Agreement and DCFTA, during the reporting period, actions were taken in the entrepreneurship sector to increase the competitiveness and quality of domestic goods, modernize production processes, create competitive jobs, and increase exports. Over the past 7 years, the EU has supported 19,531 small and medium-sized enterprises in the framework of the EU4Business initiative in Moldova, which brought entrepreneurs an additional income of 345 million euros, thanks to which 21,930 jobs were created, turnover increased by 14.9%, and exports - by 3 %. In the IT sector, thanks to EU assistance, the National Emergency Call Service 112 was launched, as well as the first information technology park Moldova IT Park, where 700 companies / residents are already registered, which have created 12 thousand jobs with an annual turnover of about 5 billion lei. In the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, many EU directives and regulations have been adopted and introduced into the national legislation. At the same time, the European Union supported the unification of the gas networks of Moldova and Romania through the construction of the Iasi-Chisinau gas pipeline. In addition, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure draws attention to the fact that Moldova has adopted more than 27 thousand European standards, which is 100% of the total number of standards published by European standards organizations. The agency explained that the use of the same standards will help facilitate trade and increase the competitiveness of products and services in the European market. At the same time, Annex XV to the Association Agreement on the abolition of customs duties was updated, according to which additional tariff quotas were granted to Moldova. In addition, the right to transit and export dairy products has been obtained.
