Moldovan President Maia Sandu promulgates a law providing for a VAT reduction for HoReCa from 12% to 6% during the state of emergency and the health emergency.
The matter concerns the Law on the special taxation of services carried out within the framework of activities referred to Section I of the Classifier of Economic Activities of Moldova. In particular, it provides for a reduction from 12% to 6% of the VAT rate on food and / or beverages, with the exception of alcoholic beverages, prepared or not prepared, for human consumption, along with related services allowing their immediate consumption, carried out in the framework of the activity, referred to Section I of the Classifier of Economic Activities of Moldova. The authors of the bill, MPs of the parliamentary faction of the Shor Party, argued for the establishment of a special tax regime for economic agents in the HoReCa sector by the fact that, due to the multiple restrictions imposed on various types of activities, enterprises in this industry suffered huge losses, which led to lower wages or general job cuts. The HoReCa sector suffered from the pandemic more than others, as the activities of many enterprises were virtually paralyzed for more than a year. // 17.05.2021 – InfoMarket
