Founded by Henri Essers in 1928, the Belgian company H. Essers operates in 19 countries and employs around 7,000 people in 85 offices. In 2019, its turnover was 746 million euros, it owns a fleet of 1,440 trucks and warehouse space of 1.3 million square meters. The H.Essers company has been present in Moldova since 2008.The company has teams in the IT sector in many countries, and now it decided to create a team in Moldova, which will work on internal software in the field of transport and logistics together with other specialists from Belgium. Regional Manager for Moldova, Daniela Vicol, said that H. Essers representatives have made a decision on new investments, noting Moldova's success in exporting IT services, and the impetus is that many Belgian companies have recently focused their investments on strategic sectors in Moldova. “At present, the workload at the company's headquarters in Belgium is growing significantly, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find IT specialists. Accordingly, when the question was asked where to find good IT specialists, the answer was obvious that in Moldova, since here we already have a branch with a good reputation H.Essers Moldova, and the company representatives are one hundred percent confident in the talent and skills of our specialists. Later, we held a webinar with the Investment Agency, after which the investors decided that they really needed to expand in our country. Now we have 3 vacancies open for specialists and we are at the recruitment stage. We conduct the first interviews to see the candidates, after which they will be interviewed by technical specialists from Belgium,” said Daniela Vicol. According to the Investment Agency, over the past 4 years, the IT industry in Moldova has quadrupled the volume of exports of ICT products and services, which in 2019 exceeded 5 billion lei. Also, IT exports increased 3 times - from 1.1 billion lei in 2015 to 3.5 billion lei in 2019, which significantly exceeds traditionally exported products, such as wines, by more than 400 million lei. Director General of the Investment Agency Rodica Verbeniuc noted that the agency's goal is to provide as many platforms as possible for direct interaction with potential foreign investors, with the help of which the agency not only promotes the investment potential and advantages of the country, but also facilitates the decision-making process on placing a business in Moldova. Currently, there are 2,300 companies in the information technology sector in Moldova, employing more than 29.6 thousand people, serving mainly the European and American markets.
