Moldovan President Maia Sandu signed an Agreement on EU financial assistance in the amount of 15 million euros to combat the consequences of the pandemic.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state signed a financing agreement between Moldova and the European Commission for 15 million euros under the "Contract for Resilience to COVID-19 for Moldova". “After the signing of this agreement, our country will receive assistance in the amount of 15 million euros, which will support our efforts to combat the consequences of the pandemic. This disinterested help is very important and necessary for Moldova. I will insist that the money fall into the areas most affected by the pandemic: medical, agricultural, small and medium-sized businesses. I will also demand from authorized institutions to control the distribution of this money so that the people most in need of support receive it, ”the President of the Republic of Moldova noted. The agreement signed is part of the EU's response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic through the Team Europe initiative. The signing of the agreement in a simplified form was agreed upon during the official visit of the President of Moldova to Brussels. On the occasion of the signing of the agreement, the EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko stated that the COVID-19 pandemic is a serious challenge for Moldova. “The health care system, small and medium-sized enterprises have suffered the most. We are confident that the new financial assistance provided by the EU, as well as the support provided since the beginning of the pandemic, will help create a solid foundation for socio-economic recovery and resilience to any challenges in the future, ”said Peter Michalko.// 22.02.2021 — InfoMarket.
