
Monthly inflation in Moldova was 0.46% in January 2021 and the annual inflation (over the last 12 months) was 0.22%.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported this, noting that, in particular, in January last year, the monthly inflation was 0.63%, and the annual inflation - 6.85%. According to the NBS, consumer prices in January 2021 increased by 0.46%, compared with the previous month, against the background of an increase in prices for food products by 0.58%, for non-food products - by 0.6%, as well as growth of tariffs for services rendered to the population - by 0.08%. According to official statistics, in January 2021, compared to the previous month, the following food products rose in price: fresh vegetables - by 5.7% (cabbage - by 15.6%, cucumbers - by 13.4%, mushrooms - by 6 %, garlic - by 5.7%, onions - by 3.6%, pumpkin - by 3.5%, tomatoes - by 2%, root crops - by 1.7%), sunflower oil - by 5.3%, fresh grapes - by 4.8%, pome fruit garden - by 1.3%, exotic fruits - by 1%, whole milk - by 0.7%, sour cream, cereals and canned meat - by 0.6%, honey - by 0.4%. At the same time, prices went down in respect of the following products: chicken eggs - by 7.4%, lamb - by 0.9%, pork - by 0.7%, potatoes - by 0.6%, high quality sausages, fresh and frozen fish, wines, soft drinks, wheat flour - up to 0.4%. As noted by the NBS, as far as non-food products are concerned, then in January 2021, compared with December 2020, the increase in prices (up to 6%) for the following products was more significant: for liquefied gas in cylinders, fuel, firewood, medicines, refrigerators and freezers, washing machines, table and bath linen, garden tools, cigarettes and other goods. At the same time, prices for new and used cars, motorcycles, coal, cleaning and detergents, air conditioners, cosmetic products, tracksuits and sports shoes, men's clothing made of natural fur, suits, sweaters for women decreased slightly - by up to 0.9 %. Among the services provided to the population, in January 2021, compared to the previous month, the cost of courses for drivers increased by 2.6%, beauty services - by 0.5%, catering services - by 0.4%.
