In the Moldovan Parliament has been created a parliamentary majority to support the candidate for the post of Prime Minister Mariana Durlesteanu.

This was announced at a plenary session on Thursday by the chairman of the Socialist Party of RM parliamentary faction, Corneliu Furculita. He read out the names of the deputies who formed the given parliamentary majority. In total, 54 deputies - from the Socialist Party of RM, the Sor party, the parliamentary group “For Moldova”, and several independent deputies who did not join any factions, put their signatures. Corneliu Furculita noted that Moldovan President Maia Sandu has already been notified of the creation of a new parliamentary majority to support the candidate for the post of Prime Minister Mariana Durlesteanu. The Socialist Party of RM Chairman Igor Dodon noted earlier that the creation of a parliamentary majority for the formation of a new government by his candidate for the post of Prime Minister is fully consistent with the Constitution, therefore any refusal by the President to appoint Mariana Durlesteanu as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister would be a serious violation of the Constitution and entail a legal and political responsibility with all the ensuing negative consequences, for which it will be directly responsible. Igor Dodon said that the president cannot ignore the will of the parliamentary majority, she cannot put herself above the parliament in a parliamentary republic, in which the president is unacceptable to come out with such dictatorial approaches and try to negate the role of parties and parliament. “We do not accept such behavior and will suppress it by all existing democratic means with the utmost firmness,” he said. The Socialist Party of RM leader believes that the proposed solution is a way out of political chaos, a solution thanks to which, on the one hand, there will be a functioning government in the country, and on the other, there will be early elections, organized in conditions of institutional peace and stability. Igor Dodon said that Mariana Durlesteanu can manage a transitional government formed for a period of several months, before early elections, and she is able to manage the pandemic crisis and the economic situation before early elections, so that people do not suffer during this period, and the country does not plunge into chaos. “We are not talking about any political alliance, we are talking about a technical parliamentary majority created solely to save the country from chaos. This majority can be joined by all responsible deputies, including those from the PAS, if they want to stop this show, directed by the president, and deal with the real problems of the people, ”the Socialist Party of RM leader said. According to him, any party can come up with proposals from professionals who could become part of this apolitical government. “We prioritize stability and effective governance, striving to ensure that people do not suffer during this period even more than they already suffer from the global pandemic. We call on all deputies to show responsibility and today sit down at the negotiating table and find solutions for the formation of a professional transitional government, ”Igor Dodon said.// 11.02.2021 — InfoMarket.
