France intends to include Moldova in the list of countries receiving assistance from the French Development Agency.
This was stated by Moldovan President Maia Sandu, summing up at a press conference on Monday the results of meetings with the French authorities within the framework of last week's visit to Paris. She noted that in March the mission of the French Development Agency will arrive in Chisinau to discuss possible areas of assistance. Maia Sandu also stressed that in general, the French authorities promised Moldova support in carrying out its reforms to modernize the country, promote its European integration, to expand bilateral relations in various fields. France is ready to start negotiations soon with Moldova on the signing of intergovernmental agreements on social security, the recognition of educational diplomas, etc. In addition, the Moldovan side is in favor of signing an agreement with France on the conversion of driver's licenses. However, as noted by Maia Sandu, negotiations on the conclusion of such a document are hindered by frequent cases of corruption in the process of issuing driving licenses in Moldova. The President said that the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Agency of Public Services for the fight against corruption in this area will be monitored, and the cases of the sale of driving licenses that pose a risk to the lives of citizens and create barriers in negotiations on the recognition of Moldovan driving licenses abroad will be investigated. Maia Sandu stressed that the Moldovan and French authorities will try to find a temporary solution to the issue of converting Moldovan driver's licenses. It is also planned to hold a Moldovan-French forum of local authorities to discuss the implementation of local projects for citizens.// 08.02.2021 — InfoMarket.
