The Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Policy and European Integration approved the amendments to the Moldovan-Romanian intergovernmental grant agreement of 100 million euros in order to extend its validity period and include a number of new areas for the implementation of joint projects.

This was reported by the press service of the parliament, noting that, in particular, the Commission on Foreign Policy and European Integration gave a positive opinion on the signing of the 6th additional protocol to the Agreement between the governments of Romania and Moldova on the implementation of a program of technical and financial assistance based on gratuitous financial assistance in the amount of 100 million euros provided to Moldova. The parties signed an agreement in Bucharest on April 27, 2010, and later signed additional protocols to it. Earlier, the parties agreed to extend the agreement, since the payment period expired in March 2019, and the projects will expire in March this year. The sixth protocol provides for the extension of the agreement for 5 years, as well as the introduction of new projects in various areas: health infrastructure, education and culture, environment, water supply and sewerage, etc. Assistance will also be provided to support the European path and the full implementation of Moldova's obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union, with a particular focus on continuing the reforms needed to move closer to the EU, including in the field of justice. The amendments will enter into force upon receipt of notifications sent through diplomatic channels by both parties on the completion of the necessary internal procedures. // 10.02.2021 — InfoMarket.
