The National Banks of Moldova and Romania will implement joint projects and exchange best practices in the monetary and numismatic spheres
According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), this was discussed during a meeting between NBM Governor Anca Dragu and Vice Governor Constantin Schendrs with representatives of the National Bank of Romania: Cristian Popa, member of the Administration Board, and Ionel Nițu, Director of the Department of Issuance, Treasury, and Currency Circulation. According to the NBM, this meeting marks a new stage in the institutional dialogue between the two central banks of Moldova and Romania, with an emphasis on the exchange of best practices, which is important in the context of bringing Moldova into line with European standards and trends. The discussions also touched upon the role of central banks in promoting national culture and identity. The agenda included cooperation in the field of currency circulation, especially commemorative and jubilee coins, aimed at promoting cultural and historical heritage. The importance of joint projects, such as exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural initiatives, was also emphasized, as these would allow the public to become more familiar with the history of currency circulation and the role of currency as a symbol of national and European identity.
