The new Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, officially took office after taking the constitutional oath on November 1 in the presence of Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu
The head of state congratulated the new members of the government and stated that the executive branch has a clear task to justify the expectations of citizens: to continue reforms, maintain peace, and resolutely move forward on Moldova's European path. President emphasized that the new government team is taking office at a crucial moment for the country, when decisions must be made with the utmost responsibility and the results must be visible to citizens. “After many years of dealing with numerous crises and challenges, starting today, we need a government that will focus more on development, which will complete Moldova's transformation into a modern European state,” Maia Sandu said. She said it was extremely important that in the coming period, members of the new government direct their efforts toward improving governance in all areas by increasing efficiency and integrity, as well as the quality of public policies and services. According to her, it is also necessary to continue the process of strengthening sustainability, first and foremost of state institutions, but also of society as a whole. “Only in this way can we continue to counter the risks and threats facing our country,” she said. At the same time, the head of state stressed the importance of accelerating economic development. “We need bold measures to ensure economic development by attracting investment, increasing competitiveness and labor productivity, because only in this way can we improve people's living standards,” said Maia Sandu. She noted that all these goals can only be achieved if we take advantage of the historic window of opportunity provided by European integration. “This path will require even greater persistence in the coming years, but also much more effective organization and interaction between institutions. We will all have to participate in this even more actively than before, showing ambition, patience, and discipline. I know that the amount of work for Moldova is unprecedented, and I know that people often do not see the connection between this burden and the process of our accession to the European Union. But everything good and lasting is built in this way—brick by brick. In order to move forward towards accession and prosper after joining, it is necessary to complete the important reforms that we have already begun,” said Maia Sandu. According to her, it is necessary to complete the reform of the judiciary so that all citizens feel that justice is finally being done and that the law is the same for everyone. It is also necessary to ensure energy security, which is important for citizens and the business environment. “Education reform is needed so that new generations are competitive and able to cope with technological transformations and the economy of the future. Administrative and territorial reform is needed so that local authorities can use European funding to develop settlements,” the head of state emphasized. She noted that, in parallel with this, it is necessary to continue programs that are already transforming our settlements: afforestation, waste management, investments in infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and roads. “This contributes to improving the quality of life and modernizing our villages and cities. Only in this way will people be able to regain faith that it is worth building their future at home, in Moldova, that they have prospects, security, and hope here,” President emphasized. She expressed gratitude to the former Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the ministers who resigned for their efforts and the responsibility with which they governed the country during a very difficult period. According to her, the previous government preserved peace, protected democracy and the security of citizens, implemented important programs for the development of the country and local communities, and made history by holding a referendum on Moldova's European integration. “I know what efforts and sacrifices were behind these achievements. I am grateful to Dorin Recean for taking on the responsibility of governing the country during a very difficult period and prooving that he is an excellent manager in crisis situations,” the head of state said. She also wished the new ministers success, noting that they are facing a country that needs trust and results. “I wish you strength in your work, wisdom in your decisions, and unity in your actions. Good luck, and may success accompany you in everything you do for the benefit of Moldova and its people,” concluded Maia Sandu. // 03.11.2025 – InfoMarket.
