Moldovan products are becoming increasingly well known on the Japanese market, and Moldova is expecting new investments from Japan in energy, digital innovation, modern infrastructure, and agriculture
Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated this while speaking on August 31 in Japan at the opening of the Republic of Moldova Day at the World Expo in Osaka - an important event for promoting Moldova's tourism and investment attractiveness, as well as our country's culture. In his address to the organizers and visitors of the exhibition, the head of government noted that the Moldovan pavilion “shares with the world the history of a people proud of their heritage and confident in the future,” and that the pavilion has already been visited by more than 400,000 guests from Japan and around the world. “The endless table, a symbol of our legendary hospitality, invites everyone to discover the authentic flavors of Moldova, while the wine corner presents the treasures of Moldova, which are appreciated by connoisseurs from all over the world,” said Prime Minister, also mentioning the organization of a special cultural program that will bring a piece of Moldova to Osaka. Dorin Recean emphasized the importance of the partnership between Moldova and Japan, as well as Japan's support for our country's European integration. “Moldova and Japan share a common vision: dialogue, cooperation, and compliance with rules are the foundation of peace. We are also grateful to Japan for supporting Moldova on its European path. Japanese technology and experience contribute to the modernization of Moldova's agriculture, infrastructure, and public services,” said Prime Minister. He noted that Moldovan products, especially wines and organic products, are becoming increasingly popular on the Japanese market, and Moldova is ready to become a reliable platform for Japanese investors—a gateway to the single market of the European Union with a population of 400 million people. Dorin Recean invited Japanese businesspeople to invest in renewable energy sources, digital innovation, modern infrastructure, and agriculture. Yuichiro Koga, representative of the Japanese government, State Minister in charge of the World Expo, and Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, said that Moldovan wine is appreciated all over the world. “I am delighted that in recent years Moldovan wine, produced from the best grape varieties grown in Moldova's fertile vineyards, has gained popularity in the Japanese market,” he said. The Japanese official expressed confidence that our country's pavilion will contribute to promoting Moldova's image in Japan and around the world. The Moldovan pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 offers visitors a unique experience of getting to know our country. Visitors will be able to learn about Moldovan culture and crafts, taste Moldovan wines and cuisine, try on traditional costumes, virtually explore tourist destinations, and learn about investment opportunities. The cultural program of Republic of Moldova Day at the World Expo in Osaka included performances by artists Violeta Botezatu, Cezar Moldovan, Eugen Negruta, and Pasa Parfeni. The Fluieraș folk dance ensemble and the contemporary dance duo of Alexandra Sosnicova and Serghei Golovnea also performed. The World Expo in Osaka is one of the largest international exhibitions, held once every five years. The event will run until October 13 under the slogan “Designing the Future Society for Our Lives” and brings together ideas and projects that can change the world. More than 150 countries are participating in the event, and it is expected that about 28 million people will visit it over six months. // 01.09.2025 — InfoMarket
