Moldova’s companies with sales volume exceeding 500 thousand lei per year will be obliged to ensure acceptance of non-cash payments in lei from July 1 – the State Tax Service
The State Tax Service (SFS) recalled this, noting that this is stipulated by the amendments to the Law on Entrepreneurship and Enterprises, adopted earlier by Parliament. They stipulate that economic agents (except for savings and loan associations and non-bank credit organizations) are obliged to ensure the acceptance of non-cash payments in Moldovan lei (MDL) through payment service providers licensed by the National Bank of Moldova until July 1. This should be implemented in physical units (except for small retail trade networks), whose sales volume in the previous calendar year in wholesale and/or retail trade and/or from rendering services with the use of cash control equipment exceeded 500 thousand lei. The innovation also concerns information society service providers. These provisions do not apply if: in the mentioned subdivisions payments were made exclusively in non-cash form, except for those made by licensed banks; the mentioned subdivisions are located in villages (communes), except for those that are part of municipalities and cities. The State Tax Service said that for failure to comply with the mentioned provisions of the Law on Entrepreneurship and Enterprises a fine from 4000 to 6000 lei per case will be applied. The control and application of sanctions is carried out by the SFS. //25.03.2025 - InfoMarket.
