About 36.5 million bank card transactions worth 10.5 billion lei took part in the “Tax Lottery” in the third quarter of 2024
At the same time, the number of transactions with bank cards increased by 25.2% compared to the third quarter of 2023, while the amount of transactions increased by 25.3%. According to the State Tax Service (STS), the winners of the next quarterly drawing of the “Tax Lottery 2024” have been identified. From all the transactions carried out from July to October, 175 winners were selected, each of whom will receive 1000 lei. The money will be transferred to the card accounts within 10 days. It should be reminded that the Tax Lottery is automatically open to all individuals who have reached the age of 18 and own a bank card of one of the Moldovan banks. The drawing of prizes is held among the transactions carried out with bank cards in POS-terminals of the country, when buying goods or services worth more than 30 lei. The list of winning transactions generated by the system on the day of the drawing is submitted to licensed commercial banks to determine the winners. The banks, in their turn, submit to the STS the list of winning transactions, notifying the winners by phone. Every quarter the STS conducts 4 regular drawings of cash prizes (with a prize of 1000 lei), as well as 2 special drawings - for winter and Easter holidays (with a prize of 1500 lei). The tax lottery is meant to stimulate the non-cash turnover of funds in the economy and to reduce the turnover of cash. At the same time, the Finance Ministry prepared a draft government decision on the termination of the current format of the “Tax Lottery” contest, which has largely achieved its goals - to increase the use of payments by bank cards and to reduce cash transactions. At the same time, the possibility of organizing a contest focused on promoting the “Electronic Sales Monitoring” Automated Information System (SIA MEV) to increase tax compliance and transparency of sales reporting will be studied. // 28.10.2024 – InfoMarket
